Destination Wedding Invitations – Make Them Unique and Memorable

By Crissy

A wedding invitation is simply a letter requesting the recipient to attend a wedding being held by someone called a “weddingress”. It’s usually written in the third person, formal language and sent five to seven weeks prior to the wedding date. Wedding invitations come in a variety of styles, designs and formats. Some invitations look very much like a traditional card and come with a matching card inside, while others are entirely electronic and can be directly emailed from a website.

Wedding invitations may be mailed or picked up at a printing house. Wedding invitations, if ordered online, can also be picked up or mailed. The most popular method of ordering these days is through an online stationery store. There are plenty of online stores that have a wide selection of both standard and custom wedding invitations available for the customer’s consideration.

Because it takes so long to make and mail wedding invitations, it is very important to give the couple enough time to get their purchase in on time. This is especially true when it comes to the engraving of the envelopes. The more detailed the engraving is to be, the longer it will take for the bride and groom to receive their wedding invitations. If there are important dates set for the ceremony or reception, it’s best to ensure that the order is sent out well in advance to give enough time for the engraving to be completed and sent out for delivery.

Engraving is done primarily on letterpress printing. The stationery itself is made of paper, which has been printed on a special type of ink roller. The paper is rolled into a cylinder and the roller stamps are pressed against the top and sides of the paper. The stamp is shaped using a mold and once it’s pressed, it will then be rolled on to the cylinder and left to dry. The result is an impression of the lettering that can then be engraved onto the stationery.

The wedding invitations and other stationery are designed and printed by the stationery store. The wedding invitation suite is sent out at the beginning of the month. Most stores are open everyday except on some holidays. Most online stores do not open on holidays. There is usually not even a holiday period until the middle of February.

Brides and grooms have up to 6 months to receive their wedding invitations before they need to consider them. The amount of time taken depends greatly on how many guests are coming to the destination wedding and the number of people being invited. Couples usually have up to ten days to select their invitations and send them out. The same holds true for the guests. It’s usually more than a month before the guests get to know about a destination wedding date and can make travel plans accordingly.
